Michael E. Kaminkow, a partner at Schulman, Treem, Kaminkow & Gilden, P.A., is highly-respected for his long-standing practice as a top-tier criminal defense attorney and civil litigator. In recent years, he has garnered broad media attention and coverage for his diverse criminal defense practice, ranging from his representation of Melissa Burch Harton, a graduate school student charged with murdering a fellow student, to his representation of Robert Harwood, a Johns Hopkins University graduate charged with murdering a fellow student on campus, to his representation of Jobrea Lodge, charged with attempted murder of a police officer.

Before entering private practice, Mr. Kaminkow served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for Baltimore City from 1966-69. Mr. Kaminkow has also served as Commissioner on the Baltimore City Community Relations Commission (1973-76), Chair of the Governors Advisory Committee on Juvenile Justice and Delinquency (1975-76), Member of the Governor’s Commission on Law Enforcement and the Administration of Justice (1978-79), President of the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorneys Association (1993-94) and a Member of the Mayor’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (2000-present).  Mr. Kaminkow was honored in 2004 by the University of Baltimore Law School for a Legacy of Excellence.
